CheckoutGuard helps detect patterns associated with automated checkout abuse and can apply configurable rules. It does not guarantee fraud prevention, zero chargebacks, or complete visibility into every checkout attempt.
No raw card data
Shopify apps do not receive full PANs or CVV. CheckoutGuard cannot validate card numbers or replace Shopify Fraud / gateway decisions.
Order-centric monitoring
Monitor ingests orders/create. Abandoned sessions and many declined payments never become signals.
Validation Function isolation
The cart validation Function cannot call CheckoutGuard servers or query your database during checkout. Decisions are based on the published rule config and cart/buyer fields Shopify provides to the Function.
False positives
Aggressive thresholds can block real customers (sales, gift buyers, guests). Start conservative and tune.
